Yes, this post will be a bit sappy, but the reason for this blog is not only to post about the good stuff, but to be honest and open about this journey that I am on.
Some of you many know that I am very close with my family, especially my sister Kenzie. This weekend I found out that she has torn her ACL during her basketball game this past Monday. I know that she will be okay, honestly better than okay because she has decided to take the most positive outlook about the situation. I am so proud of her and the young woman that she is becoming. She is not only my little sister, but my best friend.
She was one of the hardest "see you later" and hearing this news was very hard. It also made the home sickness kick in a little bit more. Last night we were facetiming and I couldn't hold back the tears. I miss her very much!! I hate not being able to be there for her during her recovery. She is one of the strongest, optimistic, and determined people I know and I have full confidence that she will have a quick and speedy recovery.
Technology has made it so easy to facetime my family multiple times a week. I love being able to see their faces and talk to them about how everything is going. It definitely isn't the same as talking in person and being able to hug them, but in a quick 4 months I will be back home with my favorite people.
Since I am 6 hours behind it makes it a bit difficult to contact my family (the best time always ends up being 9 o'clock my time and around 3 o'clock for them). Not the most ideal thing ever, but I love taking to them so it is definitely worth it!!! Already can't wait till the next time I get to talk to them!!! :)
I will be the first to say it. Studying abroad is hard, but in the end it will be one of the most rewarding journey that I will ever be on. Being away from the people you love and care about and being in a place far outside your comfort zone doesn't come easy. I know that it is just the beginning and time will fly by. I don't want to wish the time away because this is such an amazing opportunity, so I will take it day by day and keep enjoying every moment here.
On a different note, some items that I miss and wish I would have brought with me...
-Peanut butter (they have it but it is Expensive!!!)
-More Skyline!!! (I brought some with me but not enough!!!)
-One of my blankets (it would make my apartment feel more like home)

Singing off.
