What a weekend! Definitely my favorite place thus far!!! I know I say that every week, but Barcelona was absolutely beautiful.
First of all I had a window seat on the plane and we flew over the Alps and it was one of the most amazing views I have ever seen. The mountain tops were gorgeous. I think I took 15 photos because I was so amazed. Also we flew right over the Mediterranean Sea which was blue and stunning as well.
As soon as I got off the plane I instantly saw palm trees and sunlight (haven't seen in a while, Torino has been a bit gloomy). I felt instantly 110% happier! It's amazing what a little bit of sunlight can do! And 60 degree weather!!!
I took a taxi from the airport to the Hostel. I have been pretty lucky with the Hostels that I have gotten so far, they have been clean and the roommates that I have gotten have been nice and friendly. After putting our stuff down, we quickly got outside and began walking around! First stop was the BEACH!!!! Oh how I have missed the beach! The sand was soft and the water was cold!! But it was gorgeous! And there were so many palm trees (basically heaven for me)!!!
Of course we had to try the ~authentic~ food of Spain which is paella. For those of you that don't know what it is, it's basically savory rice with peppers, chicken, and tomatoes. Normally it has some type of seafood, but I'm not a huge fan of seafood so I got chicken (still amazing)!!
We then we to a bar crawl with our hostel which was fun and allowed us to make new friends with people from all over the world, including some people from the United States! Such a fun and cool experience.
Saturday morning we got up and went to breakfast at a place called Eat My Trip which was so good! I got pancakes and it made me realize how much I miss real breakfast foods! Then we began the journey to walk towards Park Güell, which was all uphill, definitely worked off that big breakfast!!
Park Güell was way bigger and way more beautiful than I ever imagined. The plants were gorgeous as well as the amazing architecture. Everything I saw was a little more beautiful than the thing before it! It was quite an amazing place and the VIEW was amazing!!! Got some pictures on the famous bench and stairs of the park.
Fun fact that most of you may already know, but Cheetah Girls 2 was filmed on the bench and on the stairs of Park Güell!!
Then we walked back down to the city and saw the La Sagrada Familia, which is the huge breathtaking church in Barcelona. What is interesting to me is that the architecture of churches are so different between cities/countries. The Duomo di Milano and the La Sagrada Familia are both catholic churches but their architecture and style are so different, but yet they are both so stunning.
Later I went back to the beach and listened to the waves and chatted with my friends! It was so relaxing and beautiful! Sad I didn't have more time to see more and explore more of the beauty that Barcelona has to offer! Definitely a place I want to visit again sometime! Until then adios!! :)
Signing off.
