Funny right?!
They give us a break.. from school!!!
So here's the thing I am only taking business classes here which are luckily taught on Monday & Tuesday. So once my 6 weeks of Italian were over I was lucky enough to have a 5 day weekend every week!! Also the classes are 3 hours once a week so that I why it is only one day a week.
Spring Break I was able to have a week and a half of exploring!!!
First stop on the trip was Mykonos, Greece. Probably one of the prettiest places I have ever been and might ever get to seen. Since there was eight of us on the trip we got a villa and WOW this place was unbelievable. To give you some perspective of how nice this place was. During the summer months the place is $1,500 per night!!!! PER NIGHT. UMMMM WHAT!!! We had our own private pool & we rented a car to make exploring a bit easier.
The first night we made hamburgers and potatoes! Very yummy!! We also played card games and ended up swimming in the pool, which was extremely cold!!! Not many people know how to play euchre, but luckily we had 4 people that knew how to play so we ended up playing that a couple days in a row. Losers had to jump in the pool... I ended up in the pool twice. :(
Mykonos was a lot of laying out and relaxing even tho the wind was 20 miles per hour there were still UV rays of 8 so we got lots of sun! The boys rented ATVs for a couple of the days which created room in the car (our miny coop was TINY). But they let us girls ride and it was soo much fun! I've never driven one before and I had so much power, I LOVED it.
For lunch we ended up going out to eat to a place called Paprika, basically a nicer version of Italian Kebab. We got Gyros and they were SOOOO good & cheap (2 euros)!!!! What a DEAL! so we went back twice lol. We also got ice cream at this shop called Nice Ice. Probably some of the best ice cream I have had in a while!
Since we were in Greece we obviously had to get Greek food so we bought lots of Pita bread, Hummus, and Feta. Some of the best food that we had while in Greece. I never realized how much I liked Greek food until this trip & you could now say that I am a bit obsessed. So I'm definitely wanting to make a trip back to Greece in the future!!
Not only was the food delicious, but the island was gorgeous itself. Every building is painted white just like you see in the movies! It is actually a law that owners have to paint their building white, I am a huge fan of this look. In the town Mykonos is very compact and buildings are on top of each other, but while driving around I noticed that everywhere else is still developing so there is a lot of dead space around.
We went to the city on of the days and it was so cool. There were so many beautiful buildings, views, and lots of stray cats!! We got lots of pictures all over the city! A great photo shoot day! It was a bit windy, but that's just how the weather is there. After pictures we went to the Lindsay Lohan beach club... but it looked as if no one has tended to it in months. There was only one Lohan sign up and the rest were taken down. The patio had wires everywhere and there were plants growing through the floor boards. It was definitely not what we were expecting!!! It was wild because we just watched an episode of the show the day before! CRAZY. Also I thought it was very odd because the beach club was on the complete opposite end of the island that the main city is.
Overall the 6 days spent in Mykonos were spent with great people that helped create even better memories! I am so happy that I went with the people I went with! We had a great time!!
On to the next flight!!!
Basically we had a solid 15 hours of traveling which included a 7 hour layover in Stuttgart, Germany. From 11pm to 6 am.., SO yes we slept in the airport. Not one of my most finest moments, but after getting a solid 2 hours of sleep in the airport we were finally on the last flight to Croatia.
We made it to Split at about 8am and we were completely exhausted, but we couldn't check into our airbnb until 3 ish so we stayed in the airport till about 11 and then went to downtown and got a pedicure which was much needed after these few months of traveling! It was great getting all pampered. After that we went and got lunch while we waited until we got the okay to go to the airbnb.
Side not: Ubers in Croatia are INSANELY cheap!! We never paid more that $5 and the cheapest one was $1.50! It was so cool.
Also our airbnb was so nice. It was basically out of an Ikea catalogue. The shower was on of the rain showers and we also had a turf patio & a hot tub. We paid $17 a night all together. It was so wild. Croatia is very hard & expensive to get to, but once you are there it is so cheap!
That night we had a chill night in and ordered in pizza and watched movies on Netflix. The next day we went to the beach which was a 5 minute walk away from our place. (most beaches in Europe are rocky and not sandy, but the water is remarkably clear). It was very warm out so we laid out for a couple hours and once we started sweating we went in the water (it was FREEZING) and out feet hurt from the rocks but it was still so much fun!
That night we went out to eat at Skinny Cow and at some really good hamburgers that were in a tortilla wrap. After dinner we went to Charlie's bar and had a few drinks then headed home. We had to use the hot tub because it was AWESOME. And then we went to sleep.
The last day we walked around the city of Split and explored the farmer's market and other shops around the city center. There was a lot more to see in the city than I imagined. It was so cool and definitely worth the trip!
We ended up getting home a 4 am on Saturday morning because our flight didn't get into the Milan airport till 12 and it is a 3 hour but ride home to Torino and then we had to taxi since the metro wasn't open yet. But we finally made it home after a long week and a half of new adventures and exciting new experiences.
Signing off.
